Inheriting A Mess
Debt up £500bn under Tories. Uncollected Tax up £3bn. Deficit up 10% this year. Wage growth at 159year lows. GDP growing 43% slower than May '10.

So whose going to be inheriting this mess next May?

Inheriting A Mess.

Isn't this what the coalition inherited from Labour??

I thought this would be about a new tv show, bit like storage wars, with a few more antiques thrown in.

The major parties are all hoping for a UKIP landslide so they can then all point at them and laugh in that mature, time-honoured tradition of the House.

None of those self-proclaimed grown-ups in society want to be left holding THAT baby.

It is encouraging though that Dave can see a new global financial crisis on the horizon when nobody saw the last one coming. That's got to be progress hasn't it?

Except that I thought the last one wasn't really a global crisis but was all Gordon Brown's fault just like this next one is down solely to the Eurozone.

Lucky we are in such safe hands.

Re: Inheriting A Mess
The Labour Party was borrowing money way before the 2008 crisis. The idea that anyone should trust them with the public finances is laughable.

Anyway labour won't be in power in May. Their collapse in Scotland has put paid to any idea of them winning. The latest polls in Scotland are shocking.

We Tories have a ukip issue but labour have an SNP issue, a green issue and a ukip issue. Many in ukip accept that they have reached their limit of Tory voters crossing over and their future is in taking more labour votes.

Labour stands for nothing and them comparing about the deficit is like an arsonist complaining the fore brigade are taking too long.

Well labour currently have the least popular leader ever of any party according to polls so you can rule them out completely

Re: Inheriting A Mess
Exactly Eggbert and they cannot win without Scotland. It's impossible.

Re: Inheriting A Mess
The last crisis was triggered by the banking sector, the same banking sector that did not force Brown/Blair to borrow record amounts during a period of unprecedented growth.

It's not that hard to see that both the banking sector and Labour's profligate spending were to blame.

Monk~koknee 9:03 Tue Nov 18
Re: Inheriting A Mess
I believe that history shows no discernible difference in UK government spending regardless of party in power in the post war years. The exception being the vast amounts paid to prop up the banks after 2008.

Before A8 comes back with lots of meaningless percentages I don't support any party. There is no real difference to make a commitment to.

I would agree. There appears to be a common "What the fuck, it's not MY money" attitude in government.

The higher up the chain of command this what-the-fuckery exists, the greater the damage.

Cameron has been banging on for four years now, that the economy was in a mess when the Tories took over because of the previous administration. Who is that Eton toff moron going to blame this time?

Can't see either Tories or Labour winning outright.
Lib Dems will be vastly reduced in numbers.
UKIP will have a few additional MPs.

It's all in the lap of the gods that would destroy us.

How about a Cameron/Farage combo?

Re: Inheriting A Mess
Isnt a 'mess' what every government who comes in every five years claims to inherit.

Politics is all about making others look worse to try and boost your own personal position.

Sick of the lot of them and would like Farage to get in just for a laugh.

This Tory led Government has borrowed more than all of the Labour Governments added together, borrowing is out of control. Why should we entrust this lot with the country's finances?
